The word Reiki comes from the Japanese word “Rei” which means – Universal Life and “Ki” which means – Energy. Reiki is not affiliated with any particular religion or religious practice. It is a subtle and effective form of energy work using spiritually guided life force energy.
Reiki energy first became available in the days of Atlantis. Jesus and Buddha also used this energy.
Reiki is believed to have been rediscovered by Japanese Doctor Mikao Usui in 1922.
Reiki is a holistic and spiritual therapy. During the session, healing life energy flows from the Universal Source to the Reiki recipient through a Reiki practitioner.
Reiki is the life energy that flows through all living things. It is believed that a human’s “Ki” or energy should be strong and free-flowing. When this is true a human’s body and mind are in a positive state of health. When the energy flow becomes weak or blocked it may lead to physical or emotional imbalance.
Reiki removes energy blockages by re-flowing the energy, thus gradually restoring internal balance. Reiki energy works harmoniously on a physical, emotional, and spiritual level.
Reiki energy is very powerful and wise and it goes exactly where you need it to rebalance and help you heal.
Description of a session
A session is 60 minutes long. We start with a short discussion. I will describe to you the session, give you an opportunity to discuss any particular issues you are experiencing, and ask you about your expectations for the session.
During the session, you will rest comfortably on a massage table or on the mat on the floor. Reiki can be performed with you sitting comfortably in a chair as well. Unlike massage therapy, no articles of clothes are removed and you are fully clothed; loose, comfortable clothes are recommended.
A session can either be hands-on – I will apply a light touch during the session, or hands-off – I will hold my hands slightly above your body.
If you prefer not to be touched you can tell me before the session.
During the session, I will be moving through specific Reiki hand positions.
When starting with Reiki sessions, it is recommended to take 3-4 sessions in a row.
