A hug is like a boomerang it always comes back!


A hug is a wonderful and very powerful gift that can heal a body and a soul. We can offer it to ourselves, our dear and beloved ones, people surrounding us.
A hug is a very intimate and sincere form of touch.

In today’s society a lot of people suffer under touch deprivation, skin hunger and hug inhibition. We need to recognize that every human being has a profound physical and emotional need for touch.

We are alone in our separate bodies, yet to live happily we must connect with each other in order to belong and get our  intimacy needs met. Touch is the primary way we contact and connect with each other. Touch is the experience of how we meet others and others meet us. We touch the world, and the world touches us.
Touch is a contact function. We meet the world outside of ourselves, outside the boundary of our skin, we make contact with the boundary of our skin. Our skin is the antennae that feels, touches, contacts the world. With touch, we meet the world outside of ourselves in a vibrant, alive, nourishing way. With touch we love, meet, connect, bond, belong.

There is something godlike everyone of us possesses in our arms, hands, fingers. This is the power to make someone feel cherished….the power to give (and receive at the very same time!) kindness, warmth, tenderness, support, healing, security – and most of all belonging. All add up to the profoundness of love….all human qualities that humans can give – and give with a simple touch – a simple hug.

Hug Therapy

During Hug therapy session both the therapist and a client are dressed. Light closing (eg t-shirt and shorts) is recommended in order to have more of skin to skin contact.

A session starts with a 5-10 minute long acquaintance, during what the client tells the therapist about his/her needs and desires, both set up their boundaries, the therapist introduces rules of the session to the client.

Acquaintance is followed by 5-10 minute long relaxation (eg breathing together, meditating, light massage) so that a client can relax, get used to the therapist and “arrive into the moment”.

After the relaxation a client tells  the therapist about his/her wishes and the session begins.

Every human being has his/her own needs and desires. The Hug therapy session in not limited to hugging only.

The following activities may also be a part of a Hug Therapy:

  • A conversation
  • Listening
  • Eye gazing
  • Holding hands
  • Breathing or meditating together
  • Caresses, strokes
  • Light massage of desired body parts (exc breasts, buttocks, genitals)
  • Different forms of hugs
  • Belly to belly meditation
  • Platonic outside date (eg a walk, movies, dinner etc)
